What you need to know

Baby will be snug as bug when you've finished making Val Pierce's crochet heart blanket.

Wrap your little one in comfort and love with Val Pierce's heart stitch cot blanket. Featuring rows of delicate heart motifs nestled within a soft, textured fabric, this design brings together simplicity and sweetness in equal measure. The gentle contrast between the neutral base and pops of colour creates a timeless piece that’s perfect for nurseries, prams, or as a treasured handmade gift. This project has been extracted from All-New Twenty To Make: Crochet Baby Blankets by Val Pierce (Search Press, published 14th April 2026, RRP £6.99), searchpress.com

About the book

This project has been extracted from All-New Twenty To Make: Crochet Baby Blankets by Val Pierce (Search Press, published 14th April 2026, RRP £6.99), searchpress.com. Val says "In this book, I have designed 20 gorgeous blanket projects for you to crochet. Some have a traditional colourway, while others are made in vibrant shades that will appeal to those who love bright colours! You'll find blankets that have appliqué animals sewn on to them, giving them a lovely tactile element, and there are hooded blankets that serve to have a farther practical function."

Meet the designer

Val Pierce's passion for crochet and knitting began when her father taught her to knit at the age of five. Having worked for many major yarn companies and various well-known designers, she decided it was time to branch out and begin making her own designs, and her designs appear regularly in national knitting and crochet magazines. She teaches a range of needlecrafts, to both adults and children. Val lives and works in Shropshire, UK.
